On July 28, 2017 Stephen M. Bloomer, Monmouth ’83, will join Phi Delta Theta Foundation to serve in the role of Senior Vice President of Advancement. Brother Bloomer will serve as a thought leader, coach, and mentor to the Foundation’s fundraising team, reporting directly to the President of the Foundation and will serve as a key member of executive team alongside the Chief Operating Officer and assist the Foundation Trustees in achieving fundraising success. This will include building a culture of philanthropy at all levels of the organization and helping the Foundation complete its current $20 million campaign. In addition, he is tasked with building infrastructure and developing strategy to ensure Phi Delta Theta’s place as the premiere fraternal leadership organization through a donor-centric development program that attracts increasing levels of annual, major, and planned gifts.
After a 28-year career as a military officer (achieved rank of Colonel) of the United States Army Engineer Corps, Bloomer returned to his alma mater, Monmouth College, where he became a fundraiser, culminating in the role of Vice President of Development and College Relations. During his 10 years at Monmouth, he contributed to and led the completion of a successful 78 million dollar comprehensive campaign and most recently supported the college president in securing a $20 million blended gift focused on growing the endowment. Though the fundraising accomplishments are impressive, he also made significant contributions with process improvements in the areas of development policies, major gift officer automated dashboards, loyal donor societies, athletics fundraising, student philanthropy, alumni/student mentoring through a central system, donor research, pre-campaign analytics, and trustee stewardship.
Brother Bloomer brings a track record of developing young leaders within Phi Delta Theta and beyond. He has served as a member of the Illinois Gamma Chapter Advisory Board for the last eight years, developed young leaders in his years of military service and is a former Scoutmaster.
