Each December, the IFC chapters at Tennessee Tech University support the Angel Tree program that is dedicated to providing Christmas gifts for children who otherwise wouldn’t have much under the tree. Through their participation, the brothers of Phi Delta Theta’s Tennessee Delta Chapter demonstrated what it means to be fraternity man by acting in a selfless manner.
Before the Angel Tree began this year, Tennessee Delta had been awarded an IFC-sponsored pizza party for having the best scholarship packet out of eleven other chapters. Instead of accepting the pizza party, the chapter graciously declined and asked that the equivalent value ($200) be donated to the Angel Tree.
Chapter President William Martin mentioned, “I was extremely proud that the chapter unanimously agreed to donate our proceeds to a good cause instead of indulging ourselves. We are also grateful to Scholarship Chairman Nathan Cole for putting us in a position to make such a donation.”
