Jason Klante, ’97 has achieved greatness in many areas according to his father and Phi Delta Theta Brother in the Bond, Larry Klante, Mankato ’66. He has been working at Sun Country Airlines for 17 years, where he is a Boeing 737 captain. In his 20+ years in aviation he has served as captain on several different aircraft, has also served as an instructor, maintenance check pilot, chief pilot, and as check airman, an extension of the Federal Aviation Administration.
Jason resides in Maple Grove, Minnesota where he is committed to their local fire department for a community of 65,000 residents. He’s served on the fire department for eight years.
On a personal note, he’s committed to standing with his brother Justin Klante during a difficult medical season, treating clostridium difficile colitis and ulcerative colitis by creating a GoFundMe campaign, to raise money to cover his brother’s out-of-pocket expenses and to help with his living expenses while he is not working.
Most recently he’s begun a volunteer position with Hennepin County, Minnesota’s largest county, as a Sheriff’s Deputy Special Technician where he and a group of airline pilots are committed to certifying Minnesota’s first Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. It will be used by the Sheriff’s office for search and rescue.
