Dr. J. Paul Schroeppel, Kansas ’03, is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with a subcertification in sports medicine. He completed a fellowship at the TRIA Orthopedic Center. Brother Schroeppel earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. As a central Kansas native, Dr. Schroeppel grew up in Hutchinson before attending The University of Kansas for his undergraduate degree. During his fellowship in Minneapolis, he assisted in the care of professional athletes from four major professional teams in the Twin Cities area.
As the head orthopedic surgeon for the Kansas City Chiefs, and assistant team physician of the Kansas City Royals, Dr. Schroeppel works with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and sports medicine experts to treat professional athletes. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the hip, shoulder, and knee, as well nonsurgical and surgical management of nearly all sports-related injuries. Dr. Schroeppel has a special interest in adolescent and adult hip preservation and the arthroscopic management of femoroacetabular impingement and labral tears of the hip. He also serves as the Program Director for the Orthopedic Sports Medicine fellowship program at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
